Smithson Genealogy Research Tips
This is a message to those who have not yet "subscribed" to our Electronic (and free) SMITHSON MAIL LIST at RootsWeb.com. This is a great place to discuss some of our SMITHSON research problems or discoveries. If you have not been able to solve who the parents are of your SMITHSON ancestor -- put a query on the MAIL LIST and perhaps someone who has already "subscribed" may be able to help you find some answers. (You can also add a query to the Guest Book on this web site.) YES, you do get emails regarding SMITHSONs who are not related but some of them may be connected to your line in the future. Perhaps you have a solution to someone else's brick wall. If you have made a SMITHSON discovery, share the good news with others who have an interest in SMITHSON family connections. AND be sure to put those other extra SMITHSONs out there that you have found that do NOT connect to your family line. Someone else may "adopt" them. It is most helpful if you include the source information along with the data. And the good news is that you don't have to buy any stamps to send out that query letter by the US Postal Service -- otherwise known as "Snail Mail". Also your name and address is only shared with those who have said YES to being a subscriber and sharing SMITHSON data. Follow the directions below to SUBSCRIBE. Then send an email SMITHSON query or discovery to SMITHSON-L and you might be amazed at the responses you get from others who are also subscribers! - Cousin Addie
